IFIS launches functional foods journal

September 11, 2004 -- The International Food Information Service (IFIS) is proud to announce the launch of the Food Science and Technology Bulletin: Functional Foods (ISSN: 1476-2137) - the first in a new series of electronic review journals offering concise summaries of developments in key areas of food science, technology, and nutrition.

The Food Science and Technology Bulletin: Functional Foods is an online publication designed to meet the current–awareness information needs of busy professionals in this fast-moving area of food science and technology. Edited by Professor Glenn R. Gibson of Reading University in the UK and peer-reviewed, the journal utilises the web for rapid publication and dissemination, and is hosted at the IFIS website www.foodsciencecentral.com (click on Information Store in the navigation bar).

Two access options are provided: Pay per view – access to single minireviews or Annual subscription - unlimited access to the complete journal backfile plus 10 new minireviews published during the subscription period. A discount is provided for personal subscribers to annual subscriptions. Purchase methods include e-commerce which allows the subscriber immediate access to the minireview(s).

Access to individual minireviews costs US $32 (£20 and Euro 30). Annual subscriptions cost US $240 (£150 and Euro 230) for an organisation and US $60 (£37.50 and Euro 57.50) for an individual.

In 2005 the Food Science and Technology Bulletin: Functional Foods will be available as part of the ALPSP Learned Journals Collection (ALJC). The ALJC offers libraries a range of 430 titles from 44 international publishers and gives their users access to these high quality full-text e-journals directly via SwetsWise Online Content.
